Parasram Zia born on 11 July 1911 at Tando Adam [a place in Sindh holding high religious importance for the followers of Prem Prakash Panth] was the probably only one Sindhi lyricist whose compositions are sung by all the famous Sindhi Singer likes Master Chander, Ranjhan Bhagat, Balu C. Rani, Prof. Ram Panjwani, C. H. Atma, Satram Rohra, Bhagwanti Nawani and so on. Sukhmani Sahib – a religious poetic expression from Shri Guru Granth Sahib – Translated in Sindhi by Parasram and sung by Bhagwanti Navani is part of day-to-day life of thousands of Sindhi families.

Parasram Hiranand Sachanandani is the only literary personality who had used three different Pen names he started with “Parso” but on his first published book [1936] “Gulzar Ranjor” here “Ranjor” was his Pen Name. After on the advice of famous Shaikh Murad Ali Qazim [from whom Parasram learned art of prosody] he started using “Zia” which means “Light” and for the rest of life kept on creating magical effect of words with this pen name.
Parasram Sachanandani stated working as Sindhi teacher after passing Matric but his literary journey was started even before that as he started writing poems from tender age of fourteen years. After the partition Parasram shifted to Ulhasnagar and working as composer at a printing press was back to his original profession of Sindhi teacher.

Parasram also proved that highly cultural family back ground and higher education are essentials for a successful literary career is nothing more than a myth. He was fortunate to nourish his writing passion as being close to Mumbai film industry he has ample opportunities for being lyricist.

Some of the famous Sindhi films “Abana – Laadli – Jhulelal – Insaaf Kithe Aahe – Kanwar Ram and Rai Diyach are to his credit, besides that he had also recoded nearly one thousand songs for the different companies. At Ulhasnagar Parasram and his friend Master Chander were neighbors and went on become relative as Parsram’s daughter Gopi and Gope Chander [son of Master Chander] got married. His son, Narayandas Sachanandani, first started business but afterwards turned to society and started working for preserving Sindhi language, literature and culture. He started a quarterly Magazine “Zia” for providing a space to new and upcoming Sindhi writer poets. This publication was in continuation till the death of Narayandas on 18th February, 2013.

Parasram was so fluent at writing that his three books “Alap Zia”, “Geet Vriha Ja” and “Paigam-e-Zia” were published after his death. He was spontaneous poet who creates poem within no time. It is said that once he had written a song for a film producer within half hour.

At the very young age of just 47 years Parasram Zia passed away on 28 October 1958. In memory of this great personality of Sindhi literature Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation has named road near the residence of Zia Sahib in O T Section Ulhasnagar -3 as “Parasram Zia Road” and bridge connecting east and west Ulhasnagar as “Parasram Zia Uddan Pul”.
