Devi Nangrani
Introductory
Devi Nangrani is a retired NRI teacher who by passion of being able to read Hindvasi, a Mumbai base Sindhi publication, have learned Sindhi language at comparatively higher age. This passion towards Sindhi language turned into writing in Sindhi and since 1996 she has written few books of short stories and Gazals in Sindhi language. Devi Nagarani is multilingual personality she holds a good command over Sindhi, Hindi, Gurmukhi, Urdu, Telugu, Marathi, English and Spanish hence her major contribution to Sindhi literature is in the form of translation. One of her major translation works is 90 Sindhi Stories translated in Hindi language in text and Audio format. NCPSL has felicitated her in 2007, Devi Nagarani is also recipient of Amrita Preetham Literary National Award-2014 along few other literary awards.
Biography / About Devi Nangrani
Devi Nangrani is eldest child among seven children her parents Hari and Kishinchand Lalwani have. She was born at Karachi on 11 May 1941 so at the time of forced migration of Sindhis to India in 1947, she was just six years old. Lalwani family try to get settled at Ajmer Rajasthan but soon moved to Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh.
This migration has delayed start of school education of Devi, which was started in 1948 at Hyderabad as student of Francis school Hyderabad. After schooling she was admitted to Nijam College affiliated with Osmania University for graduation but family situations forced her to drop studies in Midway.
In 1961 to Devi got married with Shri Bhojraj Nangrani from Mumbai and since 1972 has worked as teacher after her husband. Since 1999 she settled permanently in U.S. and has completed her studies so as she can work as teacher there. Devi has three children 2 daughter and a son currently all settled in States. In 2006 she retired from her teaching job and presently living at New Jersey and enjoying life with her pen, still in her hands, post retirement comfortable life style and grandchildren.

Famous and popular Sindhi folk singer Bhagwanti Navani is eventually immortal as she even after losing the physical existence still alive at hearts of thousands and thousands of Sindhi music lovers. Often called as Sindhi Koyel Bhagwanti was born on 01 Feb 1940 at Nasarpur. Undisputed queen of Singing Sindhi Lada (marriage ritual songs) Bhagwanti will always be remembered for singing Sukhamani Sahib (Guru Bani) in Sindhi. She also acted in Sindhi film Sindhua Je Kinare. On 22 Oct 1986 she left for heavenly abode.
