About Sindhi Community of Bikaner
Founded in the fifteenth century by Rao Bika Bikaner is among the fastest developing cities of Rajasthan. Construction of two canals namely Indira Gandhi Canal and Ganges Canal provided the base for the development of city and elevated it to fourth largest city of state. Bikaner is famous for the Karni Mata temple. Politicians like Colonel Rajya Vardhan Rathore and Bollywood personalities like Bharat Vyas are from Bikaner. Even being hampered on the Sindhi population of city Bikaner Sindhi community hold a major share in production and trading of world renowned food stuff Bikaneri Bhujia – a snack of Moth beans and Basen – daily production close to fifty tons. Bikaner Sindhi community also appears to have a kind of special attention towards the traditions related with heritage of Sindhi culture so they have constructed community building for celebrating Sindhi cultural and social events. Famous Bollywood film actress and Drama artists Lillete Dubey (Keswani) still remembers her childhood days at Bikaner.
