AIR Artist: Sindhi Learning: Sindhi Radio Play
Kamal Nihalani is a person actively involved with social welfare activities for Sindhi community in Bhuj Kutch region and Gujarat state. Kamal started life as Sindhi Program Presenter at AIR (All India Radio) Bhuj went on become presenter of Hindi Song program like Prahari and Jay Bharti which were designed for the armed force employees. Kamal Nihalani has contributed towards the enrichment of Sindhi literature and propagation of Sindhi cultural heritage and Sindhi language in own and specific way. Beside producing / directing more than 300 Sindhi Radio Play Kamal Nihalani has created 52 episodes of Sindhi language learning lessons.
Biography / About - Kamal Dr Ramchand Nihalani
Kamal belongs to Sindhi generations born and brought up in India, in post independent era. He was born as the son of Sitadevi and Dr. Ramchand Nihalani on 29th June 1952 at Adipur. In the mid of his studies for graduation Kamal has passed Vani Certificate exam and in got a job of Sindhi Program Present at Bhuj station of All India Radio.
During his 44 years long service with AIR, Kamal has presented many unique programs like he has interviews of some eminent Sindhi personalities like Padmashri Dada Hundraj Dukhayal, veteran classical singer Pandit Askaran Sharma, Dada J P Vaswani and Anila Sunder etc. He also has produced /directed more than Sindhi Radio Play and participated in some Radio Talk program related with topic associated with Women, Children and Youth.
Unique contribution of Kamal Nihalani towards the Sindhi language is that he has created 52 episodes of Sindhi language learning lessons. Kamal is also instrumental for enrichment of archival library of Sindhi Sections of not only Bhuj Station of AIR but other Stations too. At the time retirement in 2012 Kamal was working as Senior Program presenter. This is his voice quality and control over languages like Hindi, Gujarati and English, that though he was appointed as Sindhi Program presenter but got chance to present many radio programs in other language.
Kamal Nihalani got married with Premlata Chainani from Gandhidham on August 17th 1973. Presently Kamal and Premlata are enjoying a peaceful post retirement life with children and grandchildren at Bhuj.
On social fronts Kamal is associated with Bhartiya Sindhu Sabha, Gujarat Sindhi Maha Sangh, Sindhu Sewa Samiti (Bhuj) and many other social, cultural & educational organizations. He has also worked – from January 2016 to September 2018 – for Indian Institute of Sindhology as Director-cum-Secretary, where he was assigned duty of managing publication department and overall administration.
Famous and popular Sindhi folk singer Bhagwanti Navani is eventually immortal as she even after losing the physical existence still alive at hearts of thousands and thousands of Sindhi music lovers. Often called as Sindhi Koyel Bhagwanti was born on 01 Feb 1940 at Nasarpur. Undisputed queen of Singing Sindhi Lada (marriage ritual songs) Bhagwanti will always be remembered for singing Sukhamani Sahib (Guru Bani) in Sindhi. She also acted in Sindhi film Sindhua Je Kinare. On 22 Oct 1986 she left for heavenly abode.
