Paru Chawla

If we look at life of Paru Chawla certainly we are bound to find the three turning points which made her such successful and impressive woman. Born in Sindh (Birthdate 19 July 1932) Paru was the first child of Shri Deepchand Lalwani serving in Railways. Being the first child of parents naturally she got a very affectionate care during her early child and she also become more attached with parents on emotional level. Very first Leeson she learned was that there is no match for the hard work and honest for achieving success. She was also thought that keeping self-busy is the main door for the achievements.
The first turning point of her life came when she was still in teen age and was in the form of migration to India in 1947 because of partition of the country. After completing Matrik, instead of going for higher studies she started working to help father in bringing up her younger brothers and sisters.
Second turning point entered in to Paru`s life in the year 1967 as a shock of untimely death of beloved and caring father. This brought a drastic change in her life style and faith. She started reciting Dhan Siri Guru Granth Sagib at home just because of keeping her busy but this has changed her view point towards the life and religion. She also started to understand the true meaning of spirituality. She started performing Bhog Sahid of Guru Granth Sahib and singing Shabd Gurbani on every death anniversary of father and kept it in continuation for almost four decades.
Then she met with her third turning point of life in the form of being married with Thakur Chawla, a person having some goals and aims in life and was emerging as the successful and popular personality in literary world. She also met with Prof. Ram Panjwani who not encouraged Paru for singing Sindhi Kalams but also make sure that Paru must participate in Sufi Chokies. All these three incidents proved to be seed for the development of personality and career tree of Paru Chawla.
Paru started to enjoy the life of five responsibilities first and second were as being a woman taking care of home and husband along with having an extra eye for the development and education of the children. The remaining three were associated with her as being poet, writer and Singer. She fulfilled all the responsibilities in such magical way that during era she was the only singer can sing creations of Sindhi literature trio Shah, Sachal and Sami in a single session of singing to which she and people were calling Choki.
This great literary Sindhi personality and certainly greatest Sindhi woman passed away on 14 August 2016 at her residence.
