Sindhi Saint: Prem Prakash Mandal: Vadodara Ashram
Swami Dharamdas Ji were among the enlightened souls of Prem Prakash Mandal as at the tender of just nine years instead of playing with other kids and enjoying worldly affairs he opted surrendering himself at the hands of Satguru Swami Teoonram Ji Maharaj, who were his maternal uncle also.
About Swami Dharamdas
Swami Dharamdas were born as the son of Ishwaribai & Shevakram Dhanjani in the year 1910 at small village Bhit of Sindh and was named as Dhanaram. In the early days of life swami ji were identified as the younger brother of Swami Sarvanand Ji Maharaj.
As Dhanaram has started living with Swami Tenuram at Tando Adam from the early age of just Nine years hence being maternal uncle also Swami Ji took good care of his education and send him even Kashi for learning Sanskrit, Shastra & Hindu religious books, though father Shevakram was not pleased with all these happenings, just because of fear of Dhanaram also might become Sant.
After completing education at Shikarpur and Banaras, Dhanaram return back to Amrapur Asthan, Tando Adam and started serving Satguru & other visiting saints. Father Shevakram Ji arranged marriage of Dhanaram but as the destiny has stored a different task for this divine soul so even the God blessed couple with son very shortly after the marriage but wife of Dhanaram passed away just six years after the marriage.
Dhanaram again return back to ashram and took sannyasa, he was named by Swami Ji as Dharamdas and started traveling with Satguru for guiding people towards the spiritual advancement. After 1947 like the most saints of Prem Prakash Mandal, Swami Dharamdas were also shifted to India and established ashram at Sant Kanwar Ram Sindhi Colony Baroda. Presently this Ashram is known as Dharam Tirth Prem Prakash Ashram, which holds a constructional unique element, instead of traditional Gumbaj (dome shaped structure) at roof, there is statue of Satguru Swami Teoonram.
In the entire arena of Prem Prakash Mandal Swami Dharamdas are known as the founder of Swami Teoonram Dharam Tirth Prem Prakash Ashram Baroda (Vadodara) Gujarat and one who had started tradition of celebrating Swami Teoonram Janam Choith on the monthly basis.
20 August 1991 was the day on which Swami Dharamdas ji left us for heavenly abode. His disciple Swami Ashok Prakash Ji Maharaj took charge of ashram and started tradition of dedicating every Saturday Satsang to Janam Sakhi of Satguru Swami Tenuram and celebrating monthly Janam Choith (forth day from the full moon day) of Satguru Teoonram Ji Maharaj. Varsi Utsav (in the month of August) and Janam Utsav (in the November) of Swami Dharamdas are two other important celebrations held at Baroda ashram every year.
Famous and popular Sindhi folk singer Bhagwanti Navani is eventually immortal as she even after losing the physical existence still alive at hearts of thousands and thousands of Sindhi music lovers. Often called as Sindhi Koyel Bhagwanti was born on 01 Feb 1940 at Nasarpur. Undisputed queen of Singing Sindhi Lada (marriage ritual songs) Bhagwanti will always be remembered for singing Sukhamani Sahib (Guru Bani) in Sindhi. She also acted in Sindhi film Sindhua Je Kinare. On 22 Oct 1986 she left for heavenly abode.
