Satguru Swami Teoonram
Introductory
Swami Teoonram Maharaj, Famous Sindhi Saint and founder of Sindhi religious stream Prem Prakash Mandal. Swami Tenu Ram Maharaj Ji were born on 6th July 1887 in the village Khandu [presently in Pakistan] of Hyderabad Sindh. Mother Krishna Devi and father Chelaram both were of the religious nature and always feel pleasure and pride in serving Sadhu, Saints & spiritual masters. This family atmosphere proved the child to develop a great attraction for spirituality and life filled with divine light.

Childhood of Swami Tenuram was not alike the other children as he was feeling more pleasure and enjoyment in singing the devotional songs instead of going to school. His Melodious voice impressed younger brother Gwalanand but the elder brother Tahilram was unhappy with these activities of him. At the tender age of 14 years, he met with famous Sufi saint of Sindh, Sant Asuram sahib and was blessed with Guru Mantra from the Sant ji. Swamis couldn’t progress much on spiritual roads at that time as just within two years after of this when he was of 16 years, he lost the sheltering shadows of father Shri Chelaram and was forced to take the responsibility of looking after the family.
The born attraction for the spiritual progress proved much stronger as even during the days of looking after the family affairs Swami ji kept on helping poor and feeding the cattle as the part of day-to-day life. He started to write devotional poem and with time become popular as the Sant Kavi [Poet Saint] of Sindh. To progress further on the spiritual path swami ji started to make self-free from the family responsibilities, he left the house and settled at Tando Aadam in the Nawab shah district, where he established Prem Prakash Mandal. Prime object of Swami ji was to fill the life of masses with Prem [Love] and Prakash [Light] so the journey of common people from the darkness of ignorance towards the destination of spirituality filled with divine light may become speedy. The place Wari Jo daro” at Tando Aadam where the ashram was started initially, is famous today as the Amrapur Asthan and is the most auspicious pilgrimage for the followers. In those days, among the saints of Sindh, the place Wari Jo Daro become famous as the place for having a dialogue about the eternal God and meet with the need of spiritual diet. The symbolic words Satnam Sakhi of Prem Prakash Mandal are also the creation of Swami Tenu Ram sahib.
Prem Prakash Mandal started to provide assistant and help to common people during the “Kumbh Mela” and other pilgrimages. Swami ji were of the strong opinion that human beings, birds and animals belongs to same class of living hence killing the birds and animals for flesh food is unnatural and non-humanitarian. Swami ji were strong supporter for the vegetarian food habits in the human beings. according to him

KASHI KARVAT JA MARE, TO BHI NARAK NIDAN ||”
[In those days it was tradition that old aged people like to stay at most scared Hindu city Kashi for their last respire on earth and this act was known as the “Kashi Karvat”]. On the Saturday the sixth day of Hindu Month Jeth [corresponding to 23 May 1942] at Hyderabad’s Prem Prakash Mandal swami Tenoo ram respire for last. His disciple Swami Sarvanand took the charge of Ashram and Prem Prakash Mandal.
After the migration of Sindhis to India from the Sindh, Jaipur and Ulhasnagar become most active centers of Prem Prakash Mandal. Jaipur being the city with Amrapur Asthan and Ulhasnagar as work land of Swami Shanti Prakash Ji Maharaj.
Famous and popular Sindhi folk singer Bhagwanti Navani is eventually immortal as she even after losing the physical existence still alive at hearts of thousands and thousands of Sindhi music lovers. Often called as Sindhi Koyel Bhagwanti was born on 01 Feb 1940 at Nasarpur. Undisputed queen of Singing Sindhi Lada (marriage ritual songs) Bhagwanti will always be remembered for singing Sukhamani Sahib (Guru Bani) in Sindhi. She also acted in Sindhi film Sindhua Je Kinare. On 22 Oct 1986 she left for heavenly abode.
