This is not just indicative of progress of Sindhi women in free India but also indication of Social change of Sindhi community.
About Vijaya Tahilramani
Born on 3 October 1958 Vijaya is daughter of renowned Maharashtrian Lawyer L V Kapse and married with Kamlesh Tahilramani. After getting Sanad from the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa on 17 July 1982 she joined his father’s office. Initially She started with practicing in Criminal, Constitutional & Civil matters at Sessions Court of Bombay and High Court of Bombay but very shortly started to put more concentration on being specialised in Criminal law. Her educational qualification column is filled with B.A.(Hon.), LL.M.
Her arguments in various cases under the different provisions of India were not just impressive but fetched her success, name and fame. People started to consider Vijaya as the best available option for trials in criminal as well as civil matters. Beside working as part time Professor in K C Law college Mumbai Vijaya was concentrating her career as professional lawyer. Her hard work started to yield results as she was appointed as Government Pleader at Bombay High Court.
On 26 June 2001 Vijaya Tahilramani has been appointed as Additional Judge at Bombay High court and with a period little over three years on 3 October 2004 she was promoted to post of Permanent Judge. After retirement of Justice Mohit Shantilal Shah, Chief Justice of Bombay High Court, Vijaya Tahilramani was presented opportunity of working as Acting Chief Justice of same court since 09 September 2015.
On the 20 July 2018, three – member collegium of Supreme Court of India [Chief Justice Deepak Mishra, Justice Ranjan Gogai and Justice Madan Lokure] announced appointment of Vijaya Kamlesh Tahilramani as Chief Justice of Madras High Court.
Famous and popular Sindhi folk singer Bhagwanti Navani is eventually immortal as she even after losing the physical existence still alive at hearts of thousands and thousands of Sindhi music lovers. Often called as Sindhi Koyel Bhagwanti was born on 01 Feb 1940 at Nasarpur. Undisputed queen of Singing Sindhi Lada (marriage ritual songs) Bhagwanti will always be remembered for singing Sukhamani Sahib (Guru Bani) in Sindhi. She also acted in Sindhi film Sindhua Je Kinare. On 22 Oct 1986 she left for heavenly abode.
