This was the day 19 August 1971 which brought the news of sad demise of Academy award winner Lekhraz Aziz famous & beloved personality of Sindhi literature. Born in Hyderabad Sindh and shifted to Mumbai Lekhraj Kishinchand Mirchandani was among a few with capacity of equal easy and command on prose and poetry though he was awarded prestigious Sahitya Academy Award for book "Surahi" which was poetry collection but still people remember him as the writer of two most successful Sindhi Drama "Kumar Ajit Singh" and "Mister Manju". By profession Lekhraj Mirchandani was an educationist [Lecturer of Sindhi] bu at heart Lekhraj Aziz was a poet he has credit of sixteen publications out of which eleven are poetry collections.

As the almost a decade or more than that of the literary life of Lekhraj Aziz was the period when country went under the partition and Sindhi in India were focusing on bringing the life back to normally so there were quite a few occasions when Lekhraj Mirchandani was honored. His unparalleled contribution to Sindhi literature was recoginsed by Sindhi Sahitya Academy in 1966 and prestigious Academy award was awarded to him for his book "Surahi".
