Washim is a small town in the Vidharbh region of Maharashtra, which is gaining developmental speed after being declared the headquarter of newly formed district Washim in 1998. Alike the most of Indian cities a few about 250 Sindhi families are living at Washim city.

Sindhi Population of Washim, Maharashtra is just over two thousand (2200). Most of Sindhi families lives at Sindhi Colony though a few have shifted to IUDP colony & other areas of city. Kirana, Cloth & Readymade Garment trade is the principal & traditional business of Sindhis of Washim. In the recent times Sindhi youth has also entered in the trading of Mobile Handset, Computer Sales Service, Footwear, School & Travel bags and many more products.

Kaka Tilumal Ramandas Jivnani
Tilumal Ramandas Jivnani was the back bone and the instrumental force behind the unity and social empowerment of Sindhis of Washim hence often everyone call him “Kaka” [elder brother of father]. After migrating and being steeled at Washim he started kirana Shop “Tilumal Ramandas” which is at present one of the most trusted and leading grocery shop of the city. People remember that in late 1950’s every sindhi of Washim was fighting for the resettlement but still Kaka Ji were taking efforts for the unity of Sindhi community living in the city. He founded Guru Nanak Seva Mandal [Guru Darbar] and Sindhi Panchayat to take care of Religious and Social needs of the society. Beside being the Member of Janta Bank, Tilumal Ji also worked as the Councilor of Nagar Parishad Washim. Construction of Sindhi Dharam Shala and Guru Nanak Darbar were the dream projects of Kaka Ji but before these get completed, Kaka Tilumal Ji left the physical world much before on 02 Feb 2012.
