About Adipur - Gandhidham : City of Sindhi Literature

Probably Adipur is the only city in India which came in existence to accommodate Sindhi migrants forced to cross the borders after the partition of the country in 1947.
Still the administrative control of city lies with hands of the Sindhu Resettlement Corporation (SRC). This was the efforts of Bhai Pratap on whose request Mahatma Gandhi took imitative and The Maharaja of Kutch, Vijayaraji donated 15,000 acres land for the immigrants from Sindh.
In the years to come The Indian Institute of Sindhology was established at Adipur, which is a center for advanced studies and research in the fields related to the Sindhi language, literature, art and culture. Adipur – Gandhidham is twin township hence here Adipur means Adipur & Gandhidham both.
Due to Bhai Pratap and Nirmala Gajwani on one Side the region is known as land of Sindhi Social Reformers and Sindhi Politician and on the other hand many Sindhi writer poets associated with city have won Sahitya Akademi Award for literature in Sindhi language so city is also famous as city of Sindhi Literature.
