Luckiest Day of Year
In the Sanskrit Akshay means which is never change its compact status or Endless or never diminishes. Celebrated on the third day of Shukla Paksh [bright fortnight] of Vaisakha Month Sindhi Tipano / Hindu Panchang Akhan Teej is among the most scared Hindu festivals.
This is fact that this Sindhi Festivals is gaining more popularity votes in recent times though even in olden day this festival was celebrated but in those days this Sindhi Festival was limited to donating some gifts to married daughter, Sister and Brahman Swami [Priest].
According to Hindu astrology Sun and Moon touches highest peak of their brightness on this day so Akhan Teej is considered as luckiest day of the year. This is the day when you need not to think start a new business, buy a vehicle, land or building and even Gold and Silver ornaments.
Akhan Teej is also a day which is considered best wedding day as one need to ask for mahurat.
History - Tradition - Sindhi Food
According to Hindu religious history Akhan Teej is Birthday of Parshuram, sixth Avtar [incarnation] of Vishnu. This is the day on which Akshaykumar son of Brahma [Hindu Trio Brahma Vishnu Mahesh] was born. It is also believed that writing of Mahabharat by Ved Vyas was started on this day.
Modern Tradition
In the olden days people were bringing new Matka [earthen pots] and start using from this day to get cold drinking water, but this has changed with time and nowadays even daughters and Brahmans are presented with some other costly gifts.
People often shows tendency of buying Gold on Akhan Teej as since the olden days Gold is considered as most valued asset. Goddess Laxmi, Sun and Vishnu are considered as the Masters of Gold so worship of these Gods and Goddess is also performed on this day.
If we go with ancient tradition this is clear that Akhan Teej is celebrated to mark and cope with seasonal changes. Changing of earthen pot at home for getting cold water during these hot summer days is quite significant evidence of it.
As this is believed that Akshay means endless so people worship with goods which they think they need till end of life and beyond that. Besides the Gold and Silver, a good number of people also by Kitchen appliance on this day with hope that it will make their kitchen enriched with good and abundant of food.

Typical Sindhi food like Sharbat [melted sugar concentrate with various flavors] and Sesa [boiled gram] are associated with this Sindhi festival.
