Famous Sindhi Drama Writer – Sindhi Literature – Sahitya Academy Award
Dr Prem Prakash is among very few Sindhi literary personality who had acquired Ph.D. in Sindhi Drama. His thesis -research paper can be said a Historic document of Sindhi literature as Dr Prem Prakash has covered Sindhi Drama for a time period of almost a century. His thesis is published as book also with title “Sindhi Natak Ji Avsar”.
Biography / About - Dr. Prem Prakash
Born on 02 August 1946 at Hyderabad, Dr. Prem Prakash is honored recipient of prestigious literary award “Academy Award” in the year 2001 for his book titled “Bhagat”. After passing B.Sc. Prem Prakash started working with Life Insurance Corporation of India.
Being native of Ahmedbad, a rare city in India with we can say huge Sindhi population, hence city have good number of activities, functions and celebrations related with Sindhi culture, Sindhi Language and Sindhi Literature. In this atmosphere when Prem Prakash decided to do Doctorate in Sindhi nobody was surprised. This is different but important thing that he is among the early Indians who passed Ph.D. in Sindhi.
Among the various options for these Prem Prakash opted Sindhi Drama. He has done a very long research on Sindhi Drama as for his thesis “Sindhi Natak Ji Avsar” as in this research paper Prem Prakash has covered a time span extended over a century, so it become a mile stone achievement and very essential and important for the history of Sindhi literature.
Prem Prakash has credit of introducing absurd play to Sindhi stage. Dr. Prem Prakash has not just wrote quite few Sindhi Drama but has brought many plays from other languages to Sindhi literature. Even Prof. Mangharam Malkani is impressed with the way in which Dr Prem Prakash is writing and presenting Sindhi Drama.
Gujarat Sindhi Sahitya Academy, Akhil Bharat Sindhi Boli Ain Sahit Sabha and Central Hindi Directorate have also felicitated Dr. Prem Prakash for his contribution to Sindhi literature and Sindhi Drama. “Peria Jo Ishiq”, “Khayi”, “Faslo” & “Umar jo Panjon Dahao” are a few Sindhi Drama from the long list of Sindhi Drama of Dr. Prem Prakash.
Besides the writing and presenting Sindhi Drama, Prem Prakash also enriched sindhi literature with few other books also one such book is Bhagat, is his award-winning Sindhi writing.
10 January 2024 proved to be last day of physical existence of this great personality of Sindhi literature.

Famous and popular Sindhi folk singer Bhagwanti Navani is eventually immortal as she even after losing the physical existence still alive at hearts of thousands and thousands of Sindhi music lovers. Often called as Sindhi Koyel Bhagwanti was born on 01 Feb 1940 at Nasarpur. Undisputed queen of Singing Sindhi Lada (marriage ritual songs) Bhagwanti will always be remembered for singing Sukhamani Sahib (Guru Bani) in Sindhi. She also acted in Sindhi film Sindhua Je Kinare. On 22 Oct 1986 she left for heavenly abode.
