Sindhi Deity Lal Sain Uderolal
People often call all Sindhi with a common name Sain, you might wonder over the existence of such single word name for every member of an entire human community but when one looks at history of Sindh, spiritual life of Sindhi community in last say eleven centuries this wonder gets reply with Name Lal Sain Uderolal, another name of incarnation of water God Jal Devata Jhulelal who appeared more than one thousand years from now as savior of Sindhi Hindus living in Thatta Sindh and were asked by then Muslim ruler Mirak Shah either to accept Islam or be ready to die.
Common Name & Jhulelal
The common name Sain for any Sindhi is derived and based on the fact that alike other Hindus are worshiping many other Gods and Goddess and have a community name like Vaishnav is community of people worshiping Lord Vishnu as their deity. Sindhi people worship Lal Sain or Jhulelal as their deity so the Sain part of name of the deity become common name used for any Sindhi. In Sindhi language word Sain is also used for teacher and Master.
Obeying order of Muslim ruler Mirak Shah for accepting Islam was not just to change the religious faith but actually was being rootless from the spiritual life Sindhi community having from many centuries. There is enough prof that Hindus living on the shores of Sindhu river, having their own distinct culture and language were identified as Sindhi. Evocation of Mohenjo Daro indicated that Sindhu Ghati Sabhyta is among the oldest human civilization and Sindhi people were aware of building and maintaining arrangement needed for a big city.

Annual Sindhi Celebration
Two important things associated with life of Jhulelal become annual celebration for Sindhi community.
(01) Birth of Lord Jhulelal on Chand of Chaitra month become the start of Sindhi New Year- the day is celebrated as Cheti Chand – Sindhi New Year day or first day of Jhulelal Samvat [the difference between Vikram Samvat & Jhulelal Samvat is 1007 years] -a day on which environment at every locality of Sindhis is appeared to be filled with slogan Aayolal Jhulelal.
(02) Chaliho Festival of offering Thanks – a 40 days long fast – is observed every year in July August months

The 1947 division of country has forced Sindhi community to migrate to India leaving behind centuries old home land and ancestral assets. As of now India is with highest population of Hindu Sindhis so naturally these two days are celebrated with enthusiasm and colors at many Indian city. Ulhasnagar is world renowned for Chaliho celebrations. Few other cities are Ahmedabad, Indore, Ajmer, Raipur and Dhule etc. In Chhattisgarh Sindhi celebrate on terms of Ganeshoutsav – a ten days long festival of Lord Ganesha – with Slogan of Ghar Ghar Mein Jhulelal (every home with Lord Jhulelal)
