Maihar, a small township from the Satna district of Madhya Pradesh, is abode of Maa Sharda devi and famous for Navratra celebrations. Maihar is the place where Neckless [Ornament of Neck] was fallen from dead body of Goddess Sati, when Lord Shiv was carrying her dead body to Kailash. According to Purans Alha and Udai have worshiped Goddess as Maa Sharda hence the place got name Maihar [Maiya ka Har – Mother’s Neckless] . For the visiting devotees Gola Math Temple [dedicated to Lord Shiva] is yet another temptation.
Sindhi celebrations of Maihar often remained unnoticed just because of more Sindhi population and more grand celebration by the Sindhi community of Satna.

As per the information we have only 375 to 400 Sindhi families are living at Maihar but still Sindhi population of Maihar city is close to four thousand this is because here many Sindhi families are following the traditional combine families system, even having separate shops / business many brothers are living as single family.
