Mohan Gehani, Jewel of Sindhi Literature is on the list of recipients of Sindhi Sahitya Academy Award, as in the year 2011 this prestigious award was given him for “Ta Khawaban Jo Chha Thindo”. Mohan Gehani, the famous play writer, Sindhi Scholar, poet and translator, has served the Sindhi community and Sindhi literature in multiple ways. Biography / About - Mohan Gehani
Mohan Gehani was born on 20 January 1938 at Karachi and has suffered pains of partition at early childhood. This was among the worst experiences of his life but this created an urge in his heart to do something notable for Sindhi language and Sindhi community. He was an instrumental hand behind the inclusion of Sindhi language in the eighth schedule of the Indian Constitution.
Since his introduction to Sindhi literature by his ever first short story, published in popular magazine Nayi Duniya in 1955 he not only wrote many books but is always busy with institutions and organization working and taking care of Sindhi language, Sindhi Literature and Sindhi culture in India. He has not just organized many Sindhi Sammelans but also actively participated even as the Key speaker and contributed papers. He was involved with Sindhi Sahit Mandal Mumbai and worked as the joint secretary for the three years.
Mohan Gehani has also served the society as the member of Jury of Sahitya Akademi awards – and MP Sindhi Sahitya Academy awards. From 2007 to 2012 he was on the advisory board for Sindhi- Sahitya Akademi- New Delhi. Besides being the thought father of Sindhyat Movement for inclusion of Sindhi language in 8th Schedule of Indian constitution, he is the key figure of Start of Sindhu Dhara [Socio-cultural- literary, weekly].

Famous and popular Sindhi folk singer Bhagwanti Navani is eventually immortal as she even after losing the physical existence still alive at hearts of thousands and thousands of Sindhi music lovers. Often called as Sindhi Koyel Bhagwanti was born on 01 Feb 1940 at Nasarpur. Undisputed queen of Singing Sindhi Lada (marriage ritual songs) Bhagwanti will always be remembered for singing Sukhamani Sahib (Guru Bani) in Sindhi. She also acted in Sindhi film Sindhua Je Kinare. On 22 Oct 1986 she left for heavenly abode.
