In the 2013 when famous Sindhi Poet Prof. Namdev Tarachandani become 46th recipient of Sahitya Akademi Award for Sindhi language it has underlined that Sindhi Littérateur from the poetry genre and associated with education are winning the race at least in the field of bagging awards. Starting from 1959 to till date nearly twenty Sindhi poetry books are selected for this prestigious award. Sahtiyakar Gaurav Puraskar recipient Namdev Tarachandani has also bagged this award for his long Sindhi poem Mansh Nagari. Basically a poet Namdev have written few Sindhi Novels, Edited & translated some books and written some books in Gujarati language also so we can say that Namdev Tarachandani is multi lingual and multi skilled personality of Sindhi Literary world.
Biography / About - Namdev Tarachandani
Felicitated with Sahitya Academy Award for Sindhi language and Sahityakar Gaurav Puraskar, Namdev Santumal Tarachandani is among the personalities of Sindhi literature who are born close to time of partition so they are brought up and educated in India. Namdev was born on 25 November 1946 at Lukman Khairpur Sindh as son of Kimatbai & Santumal Tarachandani and has been associated with Kapadia Mahila College of Bhavnagar Gujarat for a long period at the time of retirement he was working as the Head of the Hindi Department.
Namdev Tarachandani was honored by Sahitya Academy with Sahitya Academy Award in Sindhi in the year 2013 for his book Mansh Nagari which is a long poem in Sindhi. Tarachandani the representative of the new waves of the ocean of Sindhi literature have credit for own writing, translation and editing books. He has also bagged the literary award of Akhil Bharat Sindhi Boli Sahitya Sabha and Sahityakar Gaurav Puraskar of Gujarat Sindhi Sahitya Academy both in the same year 2009.
Beside the Academy award winner poetry book Namdev Tarachandani has also wrote a few other books like Joda Kata [Novel], Vikhun [Short Stories] and Sindhi Katha Sahitya [Criticism] etc. He has also edited a few books like “Lal Pushp Hiku Abhyaa” written on life of Academy Award [1974] winner personality Lal Bhagwandas Rijhwani famous as Lal Pushp in Sindhi literature.
Presently living at Vadodara, but Tarachandani has spent major time of life at Bhavnagar as his schooling was done at Alfred High School Bhavnagar and higher studies at Shamaldas Arts College Bhavnagar. After completing education from 1977 to 2008 he worked at Kapadia Mahila Arts College Bhavnagar.

Famous and popular Sindhi folk singer Bhagwanti Navani is eventually immortal as she even after losing the physical existence still alive at hearts of thousands and thousands of Sindhi music lovers. Often called as Sindhi Koyel Bhagwanti was born on 01 Feb 1940 at Nasarpur. Undisputed queen of Singing Sindhi Lada (marriage ritual songs) Bhagwanti will always be remembered for singing Sukhamani Sahib (Guru Bani) in Sindhi. She also acted in Sindhi film Sindhua Je Kinare. On 22 Oct 1986 she left for heavenly abode.
