Srichand Hinduja, Chairman of Hinduja Group of Companies, is born as the son of great Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja who believes that Good Health and Education are not only essential for the progress but also are the fundamental rights of every human and whose life philosophy was My Dharma [Duty] is to work, so that I can give. If you look at social life and dedication towards Sindhiyat of Srichand Hinduja you are bound to conclude his life is illustration of implementing these two principals of father.
About S P Hinduja
Srichand Hinduja is born on 28 November 1935 at Karachi Sindh and today he is among the top richest Sindhis of the world. After the partition Hinduja family migrated to India and settled at Mumbai. Srichand completed his education as the student of Davar’s College of Commerce and R. D. National College, Mumbai. One of evidence of being most successful businessman of India is that along with other three brothers s Gopichand, Prakash, and Ashok Hinduja, he has earned title Fabulous Four of India.
Srichand entered into business world with father’s cloth trading but shortly he added new horizon film distribution to his business with taking overseas rights of Raj Kapoor’s Sangam. This proved a game changer for his business portfolio. Srichand expanded business wings to more areas with acquisition of Ashok Leyland (from British Leyland) and Gulf Oil (from Chevron). In the same decade (1980-1990) he also entered into banking sector with starting Banks in India and Switzerland. By this time, he started to be counted as business tycoon of India along with many reputed names like, Ambani, Tata and Birla. According to Sunday Times rich list Srichand was UK’s wealthiest person, with an estimated wealth of GBP 22 billion in the year 2019.
To take care of father P D Hinduja’s vision of Education & Health, P.D. Hinduja National Hospital and Medical Research Centre was started in Mumbai, today Hinduja Hospital is leading hospital of the city and presently his daughter Vinoo Srichand Hinduja is on the board of management. Srichand pays individual attention for proper & Smooth working along with monetary aspects of Hinduja Foundation established by father for the social welfare in the fields like education, health and rural development.
Popularly called S.P. in friend circle visionary person Shrichand Hinduja breathed last on 17 May 2023 at London after minor illness and hospitalisation.
Famous and popular Sindhi folk singer Bhagwanti Navani is eventually immortal as she even after losing the physical existence still alive at hearts of thousands and thousands of Sindhi music lovers. Often called as Sindhi Koyel Bhagwanti was born on 01 Feb 1940 at Nasarpur. Undisputed queen of Singing Sindhi Lada (marriage ritual songs) Bhagwanti will always be remembered for singing Sukhamani Sahib (Guru Bani) in Sindhi. She also acted in Sindhi film Sindhua Je Kinare. On 22 Oct 1986 she left for heavenly abode.
