Gulu Lalvani born on 09 March 1939 at Karachi Sindh and was just 8 years old at the time of migrating to India with family of mother, father and 8 brothers and sisters. Gulu was send to school in the Bombay a city which provided him space and courage to establish Binatone –a telephone manufacturing unit with Brother Pratap Lalvani in 1958. The name Binatone is derived from name of younger sister, she is now being known as Bina Ramani, the famous socialite.

Gulu Lalvani kept on a constant eye on the progress of business with throwing in new ideas and new products hence in very short span of time Binatone turned into Binatone Global – world’s largest manufacturers of digital cordless phones, a global telecommunications giant with head quarter at Hong Kong. This was 1991 Christmas holiday when Gulu Lalwani with wife went on holiday to Phuket.
