Similarly Sindhi living in every part of globe have a common thing among them, this is quite possible to find a Sindhi not knowing own mother tongue but hard to find a Sindhi not knowing local language of residence and work locality. Mumbai born Sindhi Model Actress Tamanna (Tamannaah) Bhatia has adopted this inheritance quality of Sindhi community so she is among the most successful and popular face of films of South India. Avantika a character from one of most successful & record-breaking film of recent times Bahubali – The Beginning is considered as role of multiple shades and was successfully portrayed on silver screen by one of most talented actresses, Mumbai born Sindhi girl Tamanna Bhatia.
Born at Mumbai, homeland of Bollywood Hindi Films on 21 December 1989 as daughter of Santhosh and Rajani Bhatia, Tamanna has illustrated and narrated very loudly that Sindhi youth is carrying forward legacy of hard work and accepting challenges which is inheritance quality of Sindhi community. For schooling she was student of Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School, Mumbai. Actually, this was her school’s annual day function which proved reason for her entrance to world of glamour and glittering camera lights. As Tamanna was just 13 years when this lead actress role was offered to her so before entering into acting arena, she joined Prithvi Theatre almost for one year.
Tamanna has started his journey of Bollywood films at very young age of 15 with Chand Sa Roshan Chehra released in 2005. As box office has not made this film Roshan [shining] so with failure of film Tamanna was remained unnoticed. During the same time period she also appeared in few song albums in Hindi but commercial failure kept her remain in waiting for name & fame. On astrological suggestions she added “H” & additional “A” to write her name as Tamannaah. This is myth that spelling of her name is changed because of south Indian style of writing and pronouncing north Indian names.
Tamannaah made her Telugu film debut in Sri whereas Kedi was her first Tamil film. In her next two films Happy Days in Telugu and Kalloori in Tamil story of both films, was revolving around the college life. People have started to know Tamannaah and thinking about her as talented actress but still she was away from the true commercial success. Real scene-stealer & walks away with all honors are few words as she quoted in press. In the film Viyabari, role of journalist was played by Tamanna once again she succeeded in drawing attraction of common cine viewers & critics as well but still movie remains away from being box office hit.
This was 2009 released Tamil film Padikkadavan which brought test of commercial success of her film. Tamannaah also got nomination of Best Telugu Actress for the 57th Filmfare Awards South. Mix bag of success & failure of her films at box office remain in continuation though with time success graph is also climbing. Writing review of Tamanna’s film Kanden Kadhalai [remake of Jab We Met] one critic has written “Funny and full of life, it is Tamannaah who is the heart and soul of this love story.”
If we look at the number of films of Tamannaah since 2008 to 2019 almost every year her four to five films are released, which means till date she appeared in more than 60 films for sure. He also acted in few short films and web series The November’s Story. Though baring the Bahubali most of her Hindi films failed to hit box office even Himathwala, co-starring Ajay Devgan [remake of the 1983 Hindi film] in which she played role played by Shridevi in the previously released film.
Tamannah is also appeared in good number of commercials of various products on television including many popular brands like Celkon Mobiles, Fanta and Chandrika Ayurvedic soap etc. She also worked as ambassador in 2015 for channel Zee Telugu and in 2016 of the Government of India’s campaign Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.
She also supported PETA by being part of one of advertisement encouraging consumers to purchase only those cosmetics that have not been tested on animals.
She appeared in many television shows either as guest or as judge, Tamannah was also part of opening ceremony of IPL 2018 and presented a song sequence in four different languages of Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi.
One might wonder that even after getting eight nominations at Filmfare Awards South [2007 – 2017] Tamannaah Bhatia never got award. Tamanna is winner of 2010 Kala Mandir Award, 2017 Dayanand Modi Global Award and 2018 Sridevi Memorial Award for her Film Industry Achievement at Zee Apsara Awards.
Famous and popular Sindhi folk singer Bhagwanti Navani is eventually immortal as she even after losing the physical existence still alive at hearts of thousands and thousands of Sindhi music lovers. Often called as Sindhi Koyel Bhagwanti was born on 01 Feb 1940 at Nasarpur. Undisputed queen of Singing Sindhi Lada (marriage ritual songs) Bhagwanti will always be remembered for singing Sukhamani Sahib (Guru Bani) in Sindhi. She also acted in Sindhi film Sindhua Je Kinare. On 22 Oct 1986 she left for heavenly abode.
