It was a chilly evening of December 1999 cameras were hyper active at Olympia theater in London, representative of world press was not only catching every action of central stage on celluloid but waiting for all important announcement. In India these were the movements of anxiety because Mumbai born Sindhi girl Yukata Mukhi was part of finalist for Miss world 1999 and finally all the waiting and eagerness ends with her crowning as the winner.
In sindhi language word Mukhi [also spelled as Mookhi or Mookhey] is used for the leader of the society. Wining the Miss world 1999 title Yukata has justified her family name.
About Yukta Mukhi
Yukata was born on 07 October 1977 as the daughter of Aruna and Inderlal Mukhi at Mumbai, India. As the father was working with a clothing company and his professional commitments were requiring so the family shifted to Gulf countries where at Dubai U. A. E. Yukta took the lessons for the basic schooling. Family return back to homeland during 1986 and here at Mumbai she went on for graduation in Zoology. Besides the academics she has also completed courses for Fine Art and Indian classical music.
During the days of her academic learning she was known to be a student with diversified excellence and she won quite a few awards for essay writing and public speaking. Moving with the time she also completed diploma in computers from well-known computer training institute Aptech. Considering one’s limitations and qualities she was looking forward for making a career mass communication and computer graphics.
Her height of 5 feet 11 inches, long and stylish dark hairs clouding around the shining innocent face when clubbed with her reading habit, perfection in public speaking and intellectual wisdom result in brining Miss India title for her and from where she went on to be adjudged as Miss World.
Yukta Mukhi – Bollywood Films
As the set Indian trend, she also joined the film Industry and her first Hindi movie was “Pyasa” [2002] in which another Sindhi Aaftab Shivdasani played the leading role. Unfortunately, the film proved flop at the box office. In the year 2003 injury forced her to opted out from the movie Market. In the year 2005 her two films “Memsaheb” and “Love in Japan” were released and in the year 2006 she appeared in music video “Kathputali”. She has more interest in writing and interacting with the people let us hope in future she might come with something to hit the global book market.
Yukta Mukhi – Married & Social Life
On the 3rd November 2008 she got married with Prince Tuli – a New York-based businessman and financial consultant. Yukta & Tuli have one son but this marriage did not last for longer period as since June 2014, the couple is living individual life after taking divorce through consensus. Presently Yukta is busy with her social and charitable activities besides being active with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Famous and popular Sindhi folk singer Bhagwanti Navani is eventually immortal as she even after losing the physical existence still alive at hearts of thousands and thousands of Sindhi music lovers. Often called as Sindhi Koyel Bhagwanti was born on 01 Feb 1940 at Nasarpur. Undisputed queen of Singing Sindhi Lada (marriage ritual songs) Bhagwanti will always be remembered for singing Sukhamani Sahib (Guru Bani) in Sindhi. She also acted in Sindhi film Sindhua Je Kinare. On 22 Oct 1986 she left for heavenly abode.
